Crimpshrine Sessionography

As far as I know Crimpshrine recorded 5 times between 1987 and 1989

The first session was during 2/87 and featured the original trio of Aaron, Jeff, and Pete. The session was recorded by Brian Edge at Gilman and 12 songs were recorded. This was originally released as a demo tape and as far as I know the entire session has never been re-released. Two of the songs from this session did appear on the Sound Of A New World Being Born, one of which was also released on the G-Whiz split 7".

Track-list:

  1. New Song (demo only)
  2. Another Day (demo only)
  3. Rearranged (demo only)
  4. Safely Wasting Away (demo only)
  5. Wimpy New Wave Song (demo only)
  6. RDC (demo only)
  7. I Don't Know Why (demo only)
  8. My Friend (demo only)
  9. Walk Away (also on New World Being Born)
  10. Over The Years (also on New World Being Born and G-Whiz split 7")
  11. Can You Feel That? (demo only)
  12. Tomorrow (demo only)

The second session was during 7/87 and also featured the original three-piece lineup. This session was recorded at Dangerous rhythm studios and was produced by Kevin Army. Two songs were recorded, both of which appeared on the Turn It Around compilation. These two tracks were later re-released as the last two tracks on the Lame Gig Contest LP and finally on the Sound Of A New World Being Born LP.

Track-list:

  1. Another Day (Turn It Around comp, Lame Gig Contest LP, Sound Of A New World Being Born LP)
  2. Rearranged (Turn It Around comp, Lame Gig Contest LP, Sound Of A New World Being Born LP)

The third session was during 9/87 and once again featured the original three-piece lineup. This session was also done at Dangerous Rhythm Studios with Kevin Army. Seven songs were recorded, four of which were released as the Sleep, What's That? EP. The three remaining songs were released on the Lame Gig Contest LP and two of these were re-released on the Sound Of A New World Being Born LP along with the four that made it on the Sleep EP.

Track-list:

  1. Bricks (Sleep What's That EP and Sound Of A New World Being Born LP)
  2. In My Mind (Sleep What's That EP and Sound Of A New World Being Born LP)

  5. Second Generation Junkies (Lame Gig Contest LP and Sound Of A New World Being Born LP)
  6. MSFMB (Lame Gig Contest LP and Sound Of A New World Being Born LP)
  7. Concrete Lawns (Lame Gig Contest LP only)

The fourth session was during 4/88 and for this session Idon joined the original trio to play second guitar making the group a quartet. This session was done at Dancing Dog Studios and once again Kevin Army produced. Fifteen songs were recorded during this session. Ten were used as the opening tracks for Lame Gig Contest, and the other five appeared on various compilations. All of these tracks were re-released on the Duct Tape Soup and Sound Of A New World Being Born LPs except for one track which only appeared on Lame Gig Contest.

The fifth and final known session was on 1/89 and by this time Idon had left and Paul had replaced Pete. Like the previous session Kevin Army was producing and the studio was Dancing Dog. Ten tracks were recorded, four of which became the Quit Talkin' Claude EP. The remaining six tracks were used on the Make The Collector Nerd Sweat compilation and the G-Whiz and Mutley Chix split 7” Eps. All of these tracks were re-released on the Duct Tape Soup and Sound Of A New World Being Born LPs.
